Concrete Yield Calculator
Convert batch weights and density into actual yield and per-m³ contents.
With the default inputs: Cement 3600 · Sand 7000 · Gravel 11500 etc.Actual yield 9.96 m³
Edit the inputs below to recalculate.Inputs
Result
| Total batch weight | 23900kg |
| Cement per m³ | 362kg/m³ |
| Sand per m³ | 703kg/m³ |
| Gravel per m³ | 1155kg/m³ |
| Water per m³ | 181kg/m³ |
| Sand ratio | 37.8% |
| Water-cement ratio | 0.500 |
| Binder per m³ | 362kg/m³ |
Density must be measured (bucket method) because it varies widely with aggregate. If per-m³ contents differ from the batch ticket by more than 2%, check the weighing equipment.

Formula
| Batch weight | M = cement + sand + gravel + water |
| Yield | V = M ÷ density |
| Per m³ | mi = weight ÷ V |
| Sand ratio | βs = sand ÷ (sand + gravel) × 100% |
How to work it out
- Add the batch weights: cement + sand + stone + water + supplementary cementitious materials + liquid admixture. SCMs and admixture are the items most often omitted.
- Divide by the measured bulk density, not the nominal 2,400 — measure it, and expect 2,350-2,450.
- Compare the resulting yield with the plant's stated volume; a deviation over 2% means the mix was not batched as designed.
- Work out the per-cubic-metre consumption of each material (item weight ÷ actual yield) and compare with the design mix.
- Sand ratio = sand ÷ (sand + stone) × 100%; a large deviation directly affects workability.
Where it goes wrong
- Dividing by a nominal 2,400 — 2,360 versus 2,440 is 3%, which is 30 kg of binder per cubic metre.
- Omitting SCMs and admixture — 60 kg of fly ash plus 2% admixture is 3% of the batch weight, and leaving it out inflates the yield.
- Checking only total yield, not per-metre consumption — the volume balances while cement is 20 kg/m³ short, and strength fails anyway.
Material and cost
Shortfall is a silent loss: 0.3 m³ missing from a 9 m³ truck is about 150 at C30, and 3% on a 5,000 m³ project is 70,000-80,000 — roughly a project team's margin.
On site
- Audit truck volumes periodically with a calibrated gauge; do not take the driver's word.
- Bulk density shifts with each material batch — retest when the source changes instead of reusing one figure all year.
- Keep the batching records (plants archive them electronically); they are the only evidence in a later claim.
